Shopping for DVDs

DVD movies When shopping for DVD’s, you can do one of two things; first, you can get out of your comfy bed and your warm Snugie, or you can make it easy on yourself. You can use your computer to order them online. There are many places to do your buying, but is the crowded malls with stinky teenagers and weirdo’s hanging around isn’t your cup of tea, then you can use your computer to do all your leg work. Shopping for DVD’s has never been easier and has never been more convenient. Like I said before, you don’t even have to leave the comfort of your warm Snugie. Not only can you purchase your movies online, you can even rent them. Rent the movies first with an option to buy only the ones you really like. Another neat feature that is going to become commonplace in the near future is the inclusion of a digital copy of the movie you purchase. That way you will always have a copy of your favorite movie available, whether it’s on your laptop or on another portable device like an IPOD or mp3 player. It is a very good idea and makes the purchaser feel as if they are getting a good deal. My feeling is that if you own the movie on DVD or Blu-ray, than you should automatically own it on any format. There should be a way to have that option available on all discs. Most people are going to a more digital format anyway and don’t necessarily want or need a hard copy of the movie anyway. You can see that pattern growing and continuing to grow for the immediate future.

DVD disc surface Digital is the way to go and anyone who is still using video cassettes is behind the times and will soon realize how deficient that format really is. You cannot enjoy a movie in its true HD glory using the old fashioned format such as VHS and even DVD’s need an up converting player to get all of the power from the disc. Luckily, these are inexpensive and are becoming the standard on all new DVD players. If you really want to jump on the technology train and move into the future of home entertainment, you will purchase a Blu-ray player and see the future before your eyes. These Blu-rays are so much clearer and are the only true high definition way to enjoy a movie. As long as you are using the correct cables that id. It only takes an HDMI cable to make the picture and sound so much better than before. But, even if you haven’t made the switch yet, DVD’s are still a great way to enjoy movies at home. They are affordable and offer a very clear image with great sound.

There really is no going back to the old VHS tapes; they just won’t cut it for most people anymore. There have been a lot of formats over the years. In the late seventies all the way through most of the nineties, VHS was the king of home entertainment. But no matter how nice they made the VCR’s or how many heads they put on them, they couldn’t get away from the fact that the image and sound were being transferred from a cassette tape source. They could never get rid of all the sound and picture distortion. The manufactures did a good job of nearly making all of that stuff invisible to most viewers, and compared to the early days, they came a long way, but it just could go so far. The only way to really make the sound and picture look better was to move to a digital format. Some crazy manufacturers and distributers tried doing that in the late eighties and early nineties, but the fancy Laserdisc never quite took off. Now they are just a curiosity on Ebay and I doubt anyone under the age of thirty even knows what they look like or what they are called. They were not very practical and it was just too soon to expect people to accept the change from VHS. Back then, the technology didn’t seem to change so fast and people held on to the older formats longer. Look how long it took for people to stop buying vinyl. It took a long time for people to accept compact discs as the better format and to get enough cd players into cars and homes to make everybody switch. For a long time people held on to their tapes and they were still putting tape players in cars up until a couple of years ago. You might as well have an 8-track. So, these days, with technology moving so quickly and things changing so fast, I think people, especially young people are so much more tech savvy than before, that they are willing to try the new better technology more willingly than people in the past.
